COMMUNITY HEALTH

Committee Chair: Nithya Nagaraju, Community Health Director
The Community Health Taskforce will launch in the fall of 2007. Join us in improving public health education at Case and advancing the health of the Greater Cleveland community through policy action. Contributing toward the progression of Healthy People 2010 goals is a crucial investment that reaps enormous returns in quality of life, cost and life expectancy.

HIV & AIDS

Committee Chair: Ryan Peters, HIV/AIDS Coordinator
Raising awareness on campus about the Global AIDS crisis remains the important mission of this committee. In conjunction with the Student Global AIDS Campaign at Case and the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland, the HIV and AIDS committee of AMSA helps plan, develop, and oversee several activities throughout the year, including the Dr. John Carey AIDS Walk of Cleveland, World AIDS Day programming, STATS (Students Teaching AIDS to AIDS), volunteer opportunities at The Free Clinic, Global AIDS Week of Action progrmaming, and so much more.

PHYSICIAN SHADOWING

Committee Chair: Doug Voelker, PSP Director
The Physician Shadowing Program was launched in the spring of 2007, admitting its inaugural class of six students. The program hopes to network with more physicians in the future and expand the program to eventually match the high interest of AMSA members. In order to make this program stronger and better, it is critical to have an interested and energergized committee to develop PSP detailing. The committee ultimately oversees the program admissions process as well, determining which applicants are part of the shadowing experience.

MEDICAL SCHOOL AFFAIRS

Committee Chair: Yashar Niknafs and Kyle Strodtbeck
Case students are fortunate to have one of the country's top medical schools in their backyard. By building on our network with the Case medical AMSA chapter and our resources at the Case School of Medicine, this committee aims to combine the pool of information and opportunities to the Case premedical population. This committee organizes our annual Medical School Admissions seminar, Mock Medical School Interviews, Med Student Information Panel, and helps plan our chapter's annual Medical School Fair.

LEGISLATIVE
AFFAIRS

Committee Chair: Jeff Shuster,  Legislative Affairs Director
Health Policy is a critical component of our organization. The Legislative Affairs Director focuses on educating the Case premedical population on new and important health policy issues, ranging from insurance coverage to funding for health care workers. This committee will also work in collaboration with political organizations on campus to hold voter registration boothes and provide information on the candidates for the 2008 elections.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

Committee Chairs: Susan Orra, Jeannie Choi, and Rosalyn Gholston, Co-Publicity Directors
A chapter is only as strong as its impact on the community. The AMSA Public Relations Committee helps relay the message of our many events, meetings, and opportunties to the Case student body. Through the use of Facebook, e-mail, traditional flyers, the Case Expression Wall, online flyering system, and chalking, the PR committee helps get the message out there of our important events. The committee is so critical to the success of the organization, that we continue to elect three officers to chair this group.
